What we collect
When you use the contact form on this website, we collect the information you type into it: your name, email address, an optional phone number, the subject you select, and your message, along with the time you sent it. We do not ask for anything else, and we do not record your IP address with your message.
Separately, we keep anonymous counts of how the site is used. Those are explained under Visitor counts below.
How we use it
Messages from the contact form are stored in the committee's own Cloudflare account and are read by committee members, who use them to reply to you and to follow up on what you asked about. If you tell us you want to volunteer, we may keep your note so a committee member can contact you about volunteering. That is the extent of it.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
- We do not share it with other campaigns, committees, or vendors for their own use.
- We do not run advertising trackers or set advertising cookies on this site.
Service providers
This website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare's servers handle the technical details of each visit (such as your IP address) in order to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks.
To keep spam out of our contact form, it is screened by Cloudflare Turnstile, a "not a robot" check. To tell people from bots, Turnstile may look at signals from your device and browser. That check is run by Cloudflare under Cloudflare's privacy policy; the committee does not receive those signals.
Visitor counts and cookies
We count page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not use cookies, does not follow you to other websites, and gives us only totals, such as how many visits a page had and which sites sent people here.
We also count some activity on the site ourselves: song plays, likes, shares and downloads, game plays, and clicks on the "Look up my polling place" button. For each one we store only which song, game or page it was, what happened (for example "play"), and the time, plus the score at the end of a game. We store no names and no IP addresses with these counts, and we use no advertising cookies. The polling place lookup itself happens on the Logan County Clerk's website; we never see the address you enter there.
The site's music player and the "like" buttons remember your place and your likes in your browser's local storage. That information stays on your device; we do not collect it. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Links to other websites (such as Facebook, the State Board of Elections, or the County Clerk) take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Contributions
Political contributions are handled by a separate, dedicated payment processor, not by this website. We never see or store your payment card details.
Please be aware that political contributions are a matter of public record. Illinois law requires political committees to report contributions to the Illinois State Board of Elections, including the contributor's name and, above certain amounts, address, occupation, and employer. Those reports are published by the State. This is a legal requirement, not a choice we make, and it applies no matter how you give.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Accessibility
We want this site to work for everyone, including people using screen readers or keyboard navigation. If you hit something that does not work for you, please tell us and we will fix it.
